When I needed it, the "personal stroke stories" would have been my favorites. The thing that seems different about my story and some of those listed is that I purposely wanted the readers to occasionally chuckle or laugh. We have to know what happened to others, though. That is important.
This page will change into LOTS of pages or a directory. The personal stories will remain at the forefront, though.
Personal Stroke Stories
-
Sheila Sanders and "who Stole My Other Side?"
Thirty-eight year-old Sheila was a school teacher. She created an entire site about her experiences during and after the stroke. I steopped for a moment and got carried away on her guesbbok. Do that, too! -
John D'Arcy's "My Story"
His stroke took him from truck driver to web site designer. His site has a lot of the same things I envision having. He plainly tells his story and I suggest everyone read it. I would like to have it on this site, but I will certainly link to it. -
Stroke Survivor Blog
Kathy is the caregiver for Steve and she began a blog that was about his and his stroke. Read it and post your comments. -
Stroke Survivor: A Personal Guide to Recovery
This is a book by Andy McCann and the first 60 pages (or so) are available by preview. It seems a little dry, serious and scholarly andto a certain extent, I like that, but - I need a lettle bit of a sense of humor about this subject (strokes), too. -

Different Strokes
This is a UK designed around young stroke survivors for younger stroke survivors. -
Rehabilitation Management
This article on a site about rehab discusses stroke rehabilitation and exercise. -
World Stroke Organization
This site does not seem to include North America. -
American Stroke Association
Edward Jelks supported this organization and the local chapter allowed me to post his story here, and they provide lots of information about stroke. However, they told me they would not link to me because I was not a registered non-profit or government organization. I thought that was weird. -
