Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will I get better?
A: A friend of mine whose husband has Multiple Sclerosis recently put this in true perspective.  I remarked that I improved but the changes were so slow and incremental.  Her response about the difference between Stroke and Multiple Sclerosis was simply - I could look forward to improvement.  Her husband could not.

Q: How fast will I get better?
A: Incrementally slow at first, then even slower and more incremental.  You are supposed to laugh here.  I'm sure this is not what you would like to hear, but it is the truth.  You have to be convinced you will get better and soon.  You can never give up.  You cannot stop trying.  The saying is true, "If you don't use it, you'll lose it,"  I did not want to experiment with the internet at first and maybe that is why I have trouble now.  Certainly, I did not want to learn anything new.  It made me tired and sleepy,  Lots of things made me tired and sleepy.  I am not the same person I was before the stroke, but it will have to do.  "You get what you get, not what you want."
